The M.O.O.M.E. and the olive groves
visits and cultural activities

Antonio, the owner of the company, will guide you through the estates, immersed among olive trees, surrounded by grazing horses, in the splendid setting of Ciociaria, between the Ernici, Lepini, and Ausoni mountains, and then into the historic oil mill. He will let you experience the journey that each individual olive takes from the moment of budding, to pressing, and finally to the tasting and sampling of our extra virgin olive oil.
Furthermore, inside the oil mill, now the Historic Headquarters of the Company and Museum of Oil and Olive, we organize and host all cultural, educational, and informational activities and technical courses.

The olive groves

The olive groves of the company are located in the municipality of Boville Ernica, just outside the historic village.

At an altitude ranging between 300 and 380 meters, in a hilly and rocky area, they are exposed to the northwest and north. Some of our olive trees have survived all the disastrous calamities of the 20th and 21st centuries and have come down to us. Many others have been regrown from the rebirth of olive trees damaged after the snowfall of 1985 and have survived the events of 2012 and the burian of 2017. They are constantly kept grassy and used as free pasture for a small herd of horses. Maintaining a high level of biodiversity is, in fact, one of the key principles of our company.

The oil mill - Historic site and museum

The oil mill is located in the center of the village and today is the only one open to visitors among the six oil mills that were once active within the perimeter of the walls. The current site was built in the early 1950s by Antonio, the grandfather of the company's owner, together with his sisters and brother. Research in the family's historical archive and also following the restoration of the premises revealed that it is the result of an expansion of a previous animal-powered oil mill, already active in the early decades of the twentieth century, with a ground millstone and later electrified in the 1930s. The milling activity was carried on until the early 1990s by Arcangelo, the owner's father, and then suspended.

Today the structure has been completely restored through a challenging conservation restoration, personally overseen by Arcangelo and Antonio.
